January 2018

We did it! We reached one million, ten thousand dollars in cash donations (revenue) in 2017 – thanks to you! In the year ahead, you can plan on increased research funding, expanded patient and family support programming and a greater reach to educate the public about the causes, risks, signs, symptoms, available screening and new treatments for lung cancer.

Whether you offered a cash or in-kind donation, your time and encouragement as a volunteer, your presence and wisdom as a survivor or program participant, or just simply raised a prayer for the A Breath of Hope team, we are grateful.

VOLUNTEERING

Did you know that January is RADON AWARENESS MONTH? A Breath of Hope has partnered with the Minnesota Department of Health this month to raise awareness about radon and lung cancer, especially here in MN where radon is found in two out of five homes.

Do yourself a favor. Buy a kit ($10!) and test your home for radon. Radon is considered the number one cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers and the second leading cause of lung cancer overall. If you need asisstance with the cost of the kit, please drop us an email.

Read the MDH Press Release featuring our own Bonnie Mueller, part-time staff at ABOH and four year lung cancer survivor. Bonnie, a never-smoker, found radon in her home after her stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis.
