Volunteer of the Month

A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation (ABOH) is so grateful for all of the wonderful volunteers that support our mission!  Throughout the year, we selects volunteers that go above and beyond. We are proud to highlight Tim Nordquist, as ABOH’s Volunteer Spotlight feature!

Learn More About Tim:

Tim Nordquist began as a volunteer driver 12 years ago, and his dedication, humor, and compassion for lung cancer patients and their families is second to none. He knows about sharing and compassion, growing up as one of 10 siblings!

His wife, Sharon, was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer in January of 2009, She passed away just four months later at the age of 55. After her passing, Tim looked for a local support group and found A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation. Through Sharon’s lung cancer journey he saw the stigma of the disease and the lack of research in the lung cancer community.

Tim lives just upriver from Hastings. He enjoys living on the Mississippi River and spending time with his amazing neighbors. He spends his summers boating on the river, cruising in his old ford, cheering on his grandkids at their softball and baseball games, and spending time in his hometown of Milbank, SD at his sister’s cabin.

Tim was a key part of the A Breath of Hope, Eats, and Joy campaign during the pandemic, when he delivered groceries to lung cancer patients in their homes. He also participates in monthly grief meetings and attends many of the annual events.

Thank you, Tim, for all you do to bring peace, joy, and hope to those living with lung cancer.
