This Mother’s Day, I honor my incredible mom, Liz, a true warrior who faced lung cancer with strength, grace, and unwavering love.
Liz was diagnosed with stage 3 non-small cell lung cancer in August 2020. She fought bravely for two years, continuing to serve her community, work as a nurse, and care for others every step of the way. She even worked the week before her brain surgery. That’s who she was — always giving, always strong.
We found A Breath of Hope (ABOH) during one of her treatments, and it quickly became a source of light and hope for us both. Their mission to raise awareness and push for earlier diagnoses and better treatments gave us strength — and now gives me purpose.
Today, I volunteer in her honor and for everyone impacted by this disease. I’m also returning to school to become an oncology nurse, carrying my mom’s spirit with me every step of the way.
