Bobby Anderson, APRN, CNP, DNP Mayo Clinic – Managing Pain and Side Effects

 

Robert (Bobby) Anderson is a nurse practitioner in the department of Pulmonary and Critical Care at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. He currently serves on the pulmonary-side of the lung cancer practice at Mayo Clinic and is intimately involved in lung cancer screening as well as the identification, diagnosis, staging, and treatment coordination of lung cancer along with a multi-disciplinary group of oncology, radiation oncology, and thoracic surgery experts. Prior to this role Bobby served in a multi-specialty intensive care unit at Mayo Clinic which heavily served the oncology and transplant populations. He previously served as a critical care nurse in the Medical intensive care unit and with the ECMO team at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He received his bachelor’s of nursing at Luther College and completed his doctoral studies at the University of IL Chicago. His research foci have been on proper positioning of the immobile critical care patient, imaging-guided vascular access device placement, as well as the use of virtual reality in patient education preparing for medical procedures. In addition to his clinical and research efforts,  Anderson also regularly serves as an educator both locally, nationally, and internationally.

Session Description

This session will review common symptoms experienced by patients undergoing treatment for lung cancer and common strategies employed to alleviate these symptoms. This will be a patient-centered presentation. The information presented in this session is not designed to diagnose or treat any conditions; all symptoms and treatments must be discussed, reviewed and prescribed by the patient’s treatment team.
